Pokemon Tier List by Specialty (Synthesized)

TL;DR

Versatility ranking across all 21 active specialties in Pokopia, synthesized from four data sources: pokedex.csv specialty tags, pokemon_item_matches.csv (item-count versatility proxy, Bulbasaur leads at 718), pokemon_size.csv (small-house fit bonus), and AFK-farm core_pokemon lists (auto-S). Six singleton specialties (Eat, Engineer, Paint, Party, Rarify, Yawn) auto-S the only candidate. Storage is a 2-way race: Gulpin S, Swalot A.

Key insight: Pokopia is mid-evolution-favoured for AFK farms. Final forms often inherit a low item-match count from their pre-evos but lose the small-house bonus, so they cluster in B/C while starter/mid forms dominate S/A. Examples: Charizard B (Burn), Tyranitar C (Crush), Flygon C (Bulldoze), Venusaur C (Grow), Altaria C (Litter/Fly).

Methodology

  1. Pool by specialty (comma-split; “Cut” is folded into “Chop”, which is the only chop-family tag in pokedex.csv).
  2. Initial tier from rank quartiles of matching_item_count (versatility proxy).
  3. +1 tier bump for fits_small_house = Yes.
  4. -1 tier demotion for size_category = Large not in any S/A farm config (captures final-form cluster effect).
  5. Force-S for any Pokemon listed as core_pokemon in afk_farms.csv or farm_configurations.csv rows tiered S/A/S+.
  6. Singleton specialties auto-S the lone candidate.

Source data

  • /tmp/pokopia-data/pokedex.csv (300 Pokemon, specialty tags)
  • /tmp/pokopia-data/pokemon_item_matches.csv (versatility proxy)
  • /tmp/pokopia-data/pokemon_size.csv (40 Pokemon with size data)
  • /tmp/pokopia-data/afk_farms.csv (S/A/B AFK farm rosters)
  • /tmp/pokopia-data/farm_configurations.csv (alternate configs with core_pokemon)

Missing / future research

  • Size data covers only 40 of 300 Pokemon. Untagged Pokemon get neither the small-house bump nor the large-form demotion; their tier is item-count-only.
  • matching_item_count is a versatility proxy, not a throughput measure. A Pokemon with many liked items is comfortable in more setups but may not produce faster per-tick.
  • S/A core_pokemon force-promotion treats every farm-config entry equally; a granular weighting (S vs A vs S+) could split the top tier further.
  • “Trade”, “Teleport”, “Collect”, “Appraise”, “DJ”, “Dream Island”, “Explode”, “Gather Honey”, “Illuminate (Peakychu only)”, “Transform”, “None” are specialty tags in pokedex.csv but not in scope of this brief.
